The global e-commerce logistics market will be worth over €500bn by 2024, but LSPs are unlikely to see many benefits of this growthAshish Kumar
A new study from Transport Intelligence (Ti) reveals a fast-growing e-Commerce market in 2019 at 16 percent, but also one where logistics costs are stubbornly high. Global e-commerce Logistics research 2020 looked at data on logistics costs from 20 + retailers across geographies and retail sectors.
The data shows that for much of the last decade, transportation costs as a percentage of sales remained essentially unchanged at 15 per cent. This is despite large investments from LSPs in infrastructure, technology, and automation as they aim to boost efficiency and capture greater value. However, significant variations in logistics costs can be found with the retail sector and key location determinants of total logistics costs.
