Sorry plight of Indian seafarers: Neither are they able to sail, nor return home

Since May 12, Synergy Marine Group, a ship-management firm, has been waiting in vain for government clearance to land a chartered flight in Mumbai to carry back 22 Indian seafarers from Denmark.

Synergy booked a 60-seater plane to repatriate the passengers, mainly from Tamil Nadu and Kerala, who were at sea for 8-9 months. The master and 21 other crew had signed off from Gulfhavn port in Denmark from the now sold vessel ‘Jal Anant.
