Our loss will be China’s gain as they push for market access: Indian exporters

Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) from different parts of the country, in a video conference with Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry; Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Civil Aviation; Dr Anup Wadhawan, Secretary of Commerce; and Amit Yadav, Director-General, DGFT, shared their concern about the lockdown and its export impact.

The export associations have raised their worry that the reduction of exports that would be China’s advantage that uses all means to achieve greater consumer access with enhanced VAT export rebates. Exporters have demanded that the government require all firms, including custom house firms (CHAs), freight forwarders, hauliers, shipping lines, courier services, plant quarantine, EIC, origin certificate issuing agencies and AD category banks to function with limited staff, because if one of them does not function, the export/import chain is split.
