ICAO bats for public health corridors to keep vital air cargo moving

The International Civil Aviation Organization ( ICAO) has urged the establishment of special COVID-19-free Public Health Corridors (PHCs) to address the “extensive and varied” country-to-country border restrictions now in place as a result of national pandemic measures.

In addition and an appendix to its latest newsletter, released under the authority of ICAO Secretary-General Dr. Fang Liu, the UN Aviation Agency underlined to national governments that existing threats to foreign air movements had “seriously affected the global aviation network, including the transport of critical products such as medical supplies and milk.”
