The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and reiterated its appeal on governments to take immediate steps to ensure smooth air freight supply, including quick monitoring of overflight and landing permits, exempting flight crew leaders from quarantine conditions, encouraging temporary traffic privileges, removing overflight costs, parking fees, slot limitations and curfews operating hours.
“Air cargo is a key participant in countering COVID-19 worldwide. Yet we also see examples of cargo flights loaded with life-saving emergency supplies and facilities suspended because of lengthy and costly delays in obtaining slots and operating permits. Those delays placed lives at risk. All policymakers will take action to hold global supply chains accessible, “Alexandre de Juniac, IATA said.
