Global demand for air cargo fell by 3.3% in January

According to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), global air cargo demand decreased by 3.3 percent in January 2020 compared to the same period in 2019. As the Coronavirus epidemic has “seriously disrupted global supply chains,” the IATA leader has warned, “Tough times are ahead.”

January is the tenth consecutive month of y-o-y declines in cargo volumes, according to Alexandre de Juniac, IATA’s Director-General and CEO, while coronavirus hasn’t affected January’s results, it’s likely to impact air cargo in the near future. For both import and export, China has strong trade ties with several nations. China has locked up many towns due to coronavirus outbreak
