Exporters applaud lifting restrictions on marine and agri produceLogYcode
Sharad Kumar Saraf, president of the FIEO, said the government’s decision to lift restrictions on marine and agricultural produce will open up opportunities for exports and help the country ‘s farmers benefit from inclusive growth.
“The announcement is most timely as countries look to India for imported food, fish, beef, fruit and vegetables, tea, rice and other cereals as countries are apprehensive about importing edible items from China,” Saraf said. We have to encash on opportunities like that.
Removal of inter-state trade will greatly help exports, as many states have imposed restrictions on sugar, rice , cotton, and so on, depriving us of realizing their potential for exports in the past.
Amendment to the Essential Commodities Act will not only enable farmers to better realize prices for edible oils, oilseeds, pulses, onions , potatoes and cereals, but will also help exporters to store them for timely delivery, as it is very important to manage inventories just in time.
