Derailed by lockdown, Railways sees April revenue tumble by ₹10,000 crore

The Railways recorded April earnings of 5,247.25 crores, the first full month following the imposition of the nationwide lockdown. This was around 10,000 crores lower than the approximately 15,378.45 crores seen in April 2019, data from the Railway reveal.

The revenue from the freight segment stood at ₹6,016.33 crore, reflecting a 41 percent drop against the ₹10,285.79 crores seen in the same period last fiscal.
