Coronavirus trade effects estimated at $348mn for India: UN report

The coronavirus epidemic’s trade effect on India is estimated at about $348 million, and the country ranks among the top 15 economies most affected as a manufacturing slowdown in China disrupt world trade, according to a UN report.

According to estimates released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on Wednesday, manufacturing slowdown in China as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is disrupting world trade and may lead to a 50 billion dollar decline in exports across global value chains. The industries most affected include precision instruments, machinery, automotive equipment, and communication equipment.
