Air cargo community demands unconditional waiver of demurrage charges at airports

The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) urged policymakers to exclude freight movement from any restrictions to the need to preserve its continued existence and viability. Air freight is important in the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic crisis for the shipment of fuel, vital needs and health-related goods. The world economy still requires air freight for companies and manufacturers to start providing.

Air cargo community demands unconditional waiver of demurrage charges at airports

The air freight community is seeking an absolute 100 percent waiver of all demurrage fees at all airports in the country as the industry is unable to transfer their import and export freight from the terminals owing to 21-day lockdown and manpower shortages.

The airports around the country record congestion of consignments in their especially space-constrained cargo terminals such as the Mumbai International Airport. Including the transportation services provided by Hyderabad International Airport, several airports have also come up with creative solutions.
